Empowering Communities Through Security Skills Development

Empowering Communities Through Security Skills Development

Group T Mining, in partnership with Assmang Black Rock Mine, recently celebrated an important milestone in its continued commitment to skills development and community empowerment.

On 25 June 2026, a Security Training Graduation Ceremony was held at the Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality to recognise learners who successfully completed the accredited Grade E, D and C Security Training Programme.

A total of 287 graduates received their certificates during the ceremony, joining 112 beneficiaries from the programme’s 2025 cohort. This brings the total number of beneficiaries supported through the initiative to 399.

The programme equips participants with recognised security qualifications and practical, industry-relevant skills. By improving their employment readiness, it creates meaningful pathways into the private security sector and supports greater economic participation within local communities.

The graduation ceremony was attended by representatives from Group T Mining, Assmang Black Rock Mine, district and local municipalities, traditional leadership, community forums and strategic partners. Their participation highlighted the importance of collaboration between the mining industry, government and community stakeholders in creating sustainable development opportunities.

The ceremony followed a Stakeholder Engagement Session held at the JTG District Municipality Chambers on 24 June 2026. The session brought together government institutions, private-sector organisations and development partners to explore future opportunities relating to skills development, employment, entrepreneurship, digital inclusion and enterprise support.

Potential areas for collaboration included technical and workplace-readiness training, digital literacy, leadership development, entrepreneurship, business mentorship and employment placement for security programme graduates.

Through initiatives such as these, Group T Mining remains committed to:

  • Developing skills within local communities
  • Improving employability and access to economic opportunities
  • Building meaningful strategic partnerships
  • Supporting sustainable community development
  • Creating pathways towards improved livelihoods

Group T Mining extends its appreciation to Assmang Black Rock Mine, the participating municipalities, traditional leaders, programme facilitators and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the initiative.

Together, we continue to transform lives, empower communities and create opportunities for a more sustainable future.
